So, GLUT 5 is a transporter that carries fructose through the intestine. It is thought, in fructose intolerant people, that GLUT 5 is decreased which causes problems. The study mentioned suggests that inflammation decreases GLUT 5 as well. So we need to HEAL the gut with our strong anti-inflammatories (aloe vera, slippery elm, glutamine to name a few) to help increase GLUT 5 and decrease fructose intolerance.
