I've been using it for a week instead of soap and I've noticed a great improvement in smoothness and less redness.
Lauric acid in coconut oil is anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial. As keratosis pilaris is caused by build up of keratin, the anti-inflammatory action helps to break keratin down. Its anti-bacterial action means you can use it as a soap as well and the fatty acids in coconut oil have a wonderful moisturizing effect. It also doesn't leave your skin greasy and it doesn't dry out your skin with harsh chemicals like some soaps do, which makes keratosis pilaris worse.
Always make sure you are taking care of your gut as well when it comes to skin conditions as we have to ask 'why is there a build up of keratin in the first place'? Make sure you are absorbing fats and getting good levels of vitamins A and D and zinc for skin repair.
