Kelly’s Super Juice:
Apple - cleanses liver and helps maintain a healthy pH - essential for healthy cells. Flavanoids and phenolic acid in apples have been shown to prevent development of tumours.
Carrot - Vitamin E is a great anti-oxidant to help prevent DNA damage that can cause cancer
Ginger - Anti-tumour (promotes apoptosis ‘cell death’ in cancer cells), anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant.
Turmeric - a chemo-sensitiser - while protecting normal organs such as liver, kidney and heart from chemo and radiotherapy induced toxicity, turmeric helps the effectiveness of chemotherapy to target cancer cells. Turmeric is anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant. A wonderful plant to use with chemotherapy and for prevention of cancer in the future.
Green tea (use ‘matcha’ powder) - protects against DNA damage, recent research shows that green tea helps improve efficiency of chemotherapy and also helps to induce cell death in cancer cells
A study by RW Moss ‘Should patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy be prescribed antioxidants? Inegr. Cancer Ther. 2006;5(1): 63-82’ showed patients undergoing chemotherapy who had a high antioxidant status from fruits and vegetables had:
- Fewer days spent in hospital
- fewer infections
- improved quality of life
- fewer dose reductions
- less delay in chemotherapy treatment schedule
