Feeling very inspired today after a wonderful detox seminar. I love green tea and here are a few things I learned about green tea today. I have included links to articles because I have quite a few friends that are nurses and I can hear them ringing out ‘Where’s The Research??’
- green tea decreases abdominal fat tissue (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19680234)
- green tea helps to protect your digestive system against inflammation
- Its a very powerful anti-oxidant and can help our DNA fight damage. This is why it is considered to help protect against degenerative conditions.
Breakfast: salmon portion with 1 tsp of tahini on a bed of rocket
Snacks: carrots, cucumber and capsicum with hommus
Lunch: chilli tuna omelette left over from yesterday. Side salad of spinach and rocket.
Dinner: Baked salmon and mushrooms, roast veges and basil infused olive oil
Exercise: 45 minutes weights at the gym.
Fluids: I confess to drinking one coffee a day. Also, two cups of green tea, 1 litre of water, dandelion tea.
Supplements: probiotic, multivitamin, fish oil, iron tablet
Thoughts and feelings: Feeling really happy to be a naturopath, even more happy than every other day. I learned so much this afternoon and I was thinking a lot about my patients that are on a detoxification programme and how important it is to do it once a year. Here is something very interesting - amino acids found in protein (fish, meats, legumes, tofu, nuts and seeds) chelate heavy metals and take them out of your body. So it's important to eat a very healthy diet with protein while doing a detoxification. See your naturopath for a guided, healthy detox.
